Nissan 300ZX

1991
Nissan 300ZX
1 of 1 Nissan 300ZX Hardtop Convertible 3.0L V6

Description:
Engine : 3.0 V6
Body Style: Spyder
Miles : 7505
Interior Color: White
Exterior Color : Green
Certified Price: 49,900

Have you ever seen a concept car at the auto show and wondered if you’d ever be able to buy one? This one-of-a-kind 1991 Nissan 300ZX hardtop convertible was custom built for the 1992 Geneva Auto Show by ASC as a possible production-ready version of a 300ZX convertible. Of course, you know that Nissan never built a hardtop convertible, instead preferring to go with a traditional folding cloth top, but the story doesn’t end there. Read on to find out more.

Nissan redesigned its rear-drive sports car for introduction in spring 1989, adding a turbocharged model that fall. Two curvaceous body styles were offered: a 2-passenger coupe, and a 2+2 coupe with a small back seat. A 222-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 was standard in all models except the 300ZX Turbo, which came only in 2-seater form. Equipped with twin turbochargers and twin intercoolers (one set for each cylinder bank), the four-cam, 24-valve 3.0-liter engine developed 300 horsepower with the 5-speed manual, or 280 horsepower when fitted with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The automatic also was available with the 222 horsepower engine. The Turbo cars had intercooler inlets in the front air dam, a rear spoiler, Z-rated tires, and super HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering) 4-wheel steering. That meant the rear wheels first turned slightly in the opposite direction from the front wheels, then in the same direction, to improve stability in fast lane-changes. Antilock braking was standard. Door-mounted front seatbelts could be left buckled, to deploy automatically. A T-top roof was standard on the Turbo model. Other 2-passenger coupes could have a fixed roof or the removable roof panels.

The American Sunroof Corporation, or ASC, has been building convertibles for OEM applications for years, and when the new 300ZX came out, they knew it would only be a matter of time before Nissan would want to market a drop-top version. Introduced at the Geneva Auto Show on March 3, 1992, this Nissan 300ZX convertible with a retractable hardtop was built to highlight the ASC articulating hardtop technology in a fully functional sports vehicle. The challenge in building this vehicle came in retaining the full-width rear seat, which they managed to do, giving this car room for 4. The car features an all-metal folding hardtop that retracts and folds into the rear storage area with the touch of a single button.

The key words with this important car are “all-steel” and “OEM”. ASC built this car as a proposal to Nissan for a convertible 300ZX, and as such, it is built to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards. This is not a one-off custom by some chop shop; this is a 100% production-ready prototype built by the company that builds convertibles for some of the world’s largest automakers. Because of this, every single part has been designed and built with OEM tolerances and finishes, with reliability and functionality on par with anything you would buy at a new car dealer. There are no cobbled-together bits from other convertibles on this Z; this is a fully-engineered hardtop convertible (the first since the Ford Retractable in 1959!) with full weather seals, finished upholstery, and no compromises. The rear window defroster works, the rear quarter windows are power actuated, and the rear seats are completely usable.

It’s also important to note that this car is all steel. No fiberglass was used in the construction. On a project like this, fiberglass would be the obvious choice for its ease of fabrication and the ability to make complex shapes. However, as an OEM supplier, ASC knew they needed to design and build a system that would not only look great, but that would meet OEM standards for fit, finish and production feasibility. That meant steel. As a result, this car is incredibly solid and the workmanship is first-rate. Kudos to the craftsmen at ASC for making it not only functional, but attractive too. Given all the research and development that went into designing this car, not to mention the labor to actually build it, the cost on the project was more than three-quarters of a million dollars! Yes, you read that correctly – this car cost nearly $800,000 to build in 1992. And now you can own it.

The car itself is a stock 4-seater 1991 300ZX with a naturally aspirated 3.0 liter V6 making 222 horsepower and tied to a 5-speed manual transmission. It maintains all the original car’s features and amenities including power windows, power locks, power seats, 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, A/C and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system with a touch screen interface. It rolls on a set of one-off 17-inch polished aluminum wheels with brand-new 245/40/17 ultra-high-performance tires.

For the show, the car was painted in a custom color called Mayorka Green Pearl, which is sophisticated and very light-dependent. Under some conditions, it looks almost blue, but in bright sunlight, it’s a lovely turquoise. The 100% custom interior is ivory-colored leather with black accents. All the car’s original safety features have been retained, and the seats are incredibly comfortable. It loses none of its daily-driver functionality with the conversion to a convertible, and everything works perfectly. With just 7505 miles on the odometer, the car is in excellent condition throughout and has been used only sparingly as a show car by an ASC employee. Documentation includes the original ASC press kit for the 1992 Geneva Auto Show, slides, and other documentation relating to the program. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a genuine prototype show car.

So whatever happened to the ASC retractable hardtop program? I know I promised you the rest of the story, and it doesn’t end with this car. Although Nissan passed on this project and ultimately went on to produce a cloth-topped 2-seat 300ZX convertible, the idea of a retractable hardtop was immensely appealing to another high-tech Japanese automaker who was bringing an equally potent performance car to the market. That company is Mitsubishi, and the car became the 3000GT Spyder. So the investment and prototype work that went into making this 300ZX an OEM-grade convertible was not for nothing, as Mitsubishi put the ASC system into production in 1995.
If you’re a Nissan fan, this is a unique opportunity to own a very important piece of history. The day is fast approaching when the Nissan Z-cars will take their rightful place in history alongside some important performance machinery, and the cars built in the early 90s rightfully deserve a spot on that list. They ushered in an era of high-performance, technology-laden, rear-wheel-drive Japanese sports coupes that delivered absolutely astounding performance. This car plays an important role in the development of two separate vehicles, is in outstanding condition and is documented. In terms of investments, this is as blue-chip as it gets, and you’ll enjoy your investment every time you push that single button and watch all that steel smoothly vanish beneath the deck lid. This car won’t last.

Porsche 356 B Super

Is there any sports car manufacturer that’s remained truer to its heritage than Porsche? The brand has single-handedly built an 81 year legacy out of performance minded engineering while designing some of the most endearing cars ever produced. And today, as one of the most well respected car companies on the planet, they enjoy a tremendous following that has spawned a positively gigantic support system. Not surprisingly the value of their early models, like this rare 1961 356B, is starting to go through the roof! And if you’re a serious sports car collector who is looking for the perfect investment opportunity or someone who just wants something that’s classy, different and fun, the time to buy is RIGHT NOW. As one of only 1,047 1961 356B notchbacks to roll down Porsches Zuffenhausen assembly line this two owner 1600 Super is the beneficiary of a recent frame-off, nut and bolt restoration which utilized largely NOS parts to complement its original drive-train and all original sheet-metal. Are you a savvy gearhead who’s looking for a cool car that will bring years of enjoyment and excellent long-term appreciation? This classic Porsche is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!

Sporting a smooth coat of classic red urethane, this fully sorted and completely road ready 356B began life in the hands of a passionate sports car owner who trusted one factory trained service technician for all of his yearly maintenance needs. When it came time to sell the car, that technician was the first person to produce a check; and in 2009, he performed a ground up restoration which utilized 30 years of accumulated NOS parts to supplement what was already a solid and highly original car. The mild body work began with a completely stripped steel shell that was fine tuned to perfection and fully prepped for modern paint. Once the doors and bonnets were aligned to better than factory standards, the car was disassembled, evenly coated in two-stage basecoat/clearcoat paint and sanded and buffed to a clean, wet-look shine. The result is a spectacular classic sports car which has timeless appeal, looks outstanding on the show field and feels right at home motoring down the street.

As the rarest model of the 1961 Porsche 356B line, the Notchback is essentially a 356B Cabriolet which wears a factory welded hardtop and a few unique trim pieces. And this showroom fresh car, with its all original sheet metal and NOS replacement parts, could be the nicest ’61 Notchback in existence! At the front of the car, a familiar stretched nose holds a chrome trimmed hood over a stylish, showroom fresh chrome bumper. At the sides of that hood, classic Porsche headlights, which are sealed in pristine chrome surrounds, prop small parking lights above stylish turn signals that are integrated into small chrome grilles. At the top of the car, pristine late generation 356 curved glass is bordered by spotless aluminum trim, metallic silver wipers and correct chrome mirrors; and at the sides of the car, straight aluminum rocker moldings run parallel to factory fresh chrome door handles. At the back of the car, a vertical chrome grille pipes air into the engine compartment above a traditional gold “Porsche 1600 Super” script; and classy, cat eye tail lights function perfectly between bright square reflectors, a second showroom fresh chrome bumper, a small chrome trimmed reverse light and fully integrated exhaust tips.

Powering this sharp ’61 Porsche is the cars original 1600 cc air cooled, flat four cylinder engine, which wears a correct 616/2 type number and a P*085653* serial number. Completely rebuilt during the cars restoration, it creates strong 8 to 1 compression, produces that famous and distinctive boxer sound that early German cars are known for, and will likely speed along forever with a minimum of fussing and tuning. At the sides of the engine, dual Zenith 2-barrel carburetors mix air from gloss black, correctly decaled single snorkel air cleaners with fuel from fresh stainless fuel lines. And at the front of the engine, a new V-belt snakes around correct steel pulleys just below a Fram branded oil filter case. Fire is supplied by a Bosch ignition module which sends spark to a correct Bosch coil, a correct generator and a correct points distributor; and cooling is provided by a correctly shrouded, correctly painted and correctly decaled factory fan. Spent gases are handled by a factory fresh Porsche replacement exhaust system; and like the rest of the car, the entire engine bay has been restored to show quality standards. With its fresh paint, new chrome and spotless components, this is definitely the kind of classic you’ll want to show off every chance you get!

As one of the cars that pioneered nimble rear engine, rear wheel drive powertrains, the 356 was generally praised for its exceptional handling, especially in 1961 when Koni shocks and lower spring rates became standard equipment. Take one look underneath this B Notchback and you’ll see just how much work went into its complete, nut and bolt restoration. Both the front and rear suspensions have obviously been completely rebuilt all the way from the cars 23mm torsion bars to its ‘camber compensator’ spring, and now feature fresh bushings, fresh shocks and a correct anti-sway bar. At the back of the car, power flows from the 1600 cc motor into a 4-speed manual transmission which displays a July (7) of 1961 (1) build date, a correct 741 casting number and a correct 741/2 type stamp that translates to a BBBD gear ratio. And at the corners of the car, large, original aluminum brake drums, which have been media beaded and completely rebuilt with new hardware, new pads, and fresh hoses, sit behind correct 15 inch silver wheels that spin new 165-15 Michelin XZX tires around pristine stainless center caps. The bottom of this spotless Porsche looks spectacular with all-new stainless hardware and semi-gloss black suspension pieces contrasting well against the cars straight and solid unitized floor. And you can drive or show the car with the confidence of knowing that there aren’t any hidden surprises waiting for you down the road!

Pop open this Porsches solid feeling doors and you’ll find a completely restored black vinyl interior which is the perfect spot to spend the afternoon cruising. Both the front and rear passengers enjoy firm, rebuilt bucket seats that are anchored by mirror-like chrome hardware and pristine gray carpet. And at the sides of the car, brand new kick panels combine with fresh door panels, fresh map pockets and fresh chrome handles to add a little form to well-designed function. At the top of the car, a tight white headliner stretches from door to door between cool, ambient dome lights. And at the front of the car, a freshly painted dash props a straight-out-of-the-box pad above clear, minimalist gauges, a standard issue Porsche radio delete and a snazzy passenger’s side pull handle. In front of the driver, an awesome looking Porsche steering wheel makes good use of the cars fresh suspension. And in front of the cockpit, you’ll find a spacious, by sports car standards, front hatch which has been fully restored and houses a correct spare tire.

Included with the sale of this rare 1961 Porsche is an original owner’s manual, an era correct service manual, a stack of notes, restoration receipts and restoration photos, and some general information about the production and serial numbers associated with the car.
This Porsche is, without a doubt, one of the best and most unique collector cars your money can buy. And for the savvy gearhead who wants to enjoy his car while gaining a little equity, it’s an unbeatable value. If you’re looking for a virtually perfect classic that will provide good times and great returns, this 356B is your car!

Mitsubishi

1996
Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Spyder
10,900 Actual Mile 3000GT VR4 Spyder Twin Turbo 6 Speed

Description:

 Engine : 3.0 V6 Twin Turbo
 Body Style: Spyder
 Miles ;10900
 Stock #131409
 Interior Color:Gray
 Exterior Color:Red
Certified Price: $45,900

We love 3000GT’s here, and we get our share of gorgeous ones in now and again. This one’s a mind blower, though; a bright Caracas Red over tan leather VR4 Spyder! There are only 10,900 miles on the clock, there are NO issues with the car anywhere, and it’s 100% factory original and unmodified down to the tires!

These cars are so rare many people don’t even know they exist. Converted by the open top experts at ASC, these Spyders were the first retractable hardtop cars offered to the American public since the 1959 Ford Sunliner! They were offered for sale in 1995 and 1996 only, with a production total of just over 800, with 346 built in 1996 like this one. A couple of us here remember drooling on the cars at the Detroit and Cleveland auto shows before recoiling in horror at the near $70,000 sticker price! The retractable roof was one of the coolest things we’d ever seen but we thought you’d have to be crazy to pay a $20,000+ premium over the hardtop!

Doing some research I found out where a lot of the money went; this was obviously no Sawzall job! ASC modified every exterior panel on the car other than the hood for additional structural rigidity and packaging. Not only did the doors require additional bracing they also got extra relays for the ‘express down’ feature when the top lowers. The front fenders are unique due to reinforcement of the body. The taillights were modified, the windshield header is modified and obviously the roof is gone, but there are a hundred small details from the relocation of seatback releases to a unique rear view mirror that needed replacement! Components like the CD changer, ABS module and ECU have new brackets or locations, and the radio’s amp was retuned to provide additional bass. Retuned spring and shock rates soften the ride while a new brake proportioning valve is adjusted for the additional weight and its distribution. Bumper and side skirts, moldings and emblems are reworked or replaced. The depth of the Spyder’s changes is thorough, comprehensive and completely in line with Mitsubishi’s philosophy that the 3000GT would be a world class touring car, top up or down!

This car is truly beautiful. Obviously it was spared all winters as a quick check of the body, undercarriage and interior all show NO evidence of abuse or rust. There shouldn’t be, the car averaged 900 miles a year from new! That’s the original exhaust from front to back, the original brakes, wheels and Michelin tires at all four corners and the dead stock, powerful and smooth motor up front! The A/C blows ice cold and the heater works great, just like everything else on the car. There’s a ton of power from the 320hp twin turbo mill up front and the transmission’s flawless!

The exterior is a beautiful Caracas Red, just as a hot drop top should be! The body of the car is shiny, dent-free and beautiful. All four factory chrome wheels are in excellent shape, the ground effects and bumpers are excellent with no cracking, splitting or chips and the lights and lenses are excellent with no clouding or discoloration. The car is a true head turner at any speed, top up or down!

The interior is in pristine condition. The seats are gorgeous with scar-free supple leather covers, the dash and center console are mark free and the carpet is in excellent shape. There’s a lot of stuff going on in here, too, from climate control to a wild large screen cassette radio (with in-trunk CD changer) to the Spyder-specific top and trunk switches to basic items like power windows, locks and mirrors, cruise, tilt, steering wheel radio controls and full gauges. The six-way power seat keeps you comfortable for quick blasts of speed in turns as well as road trips. Breathe deeply and smell nothing but clean leather and fresh air; this was a non smoking hot rod with a lighter that’s never done its job!
This car’s ready to go! Obviously, you’ll want to treat this one with the same care that’s been shown for the last thirteen years, but rest assured it’s ready at a moment’s notice to do your bidding. One of 346, 10,900 original miles and one of the coolest convertibles on the planet, this car was a star from day one. Far from an immobile museum piece, this car’s condition nonetheless warrants serious attention from collectors!

There’s just something about a BMW that conveys the perfect combination of aggressive performance and excellent driving dynamics. And this 2000 E63/4 M Roadster, dressed in a great looking coat of original Dakar Yellow, puts a fresh twist on a traditional favorite. Looking more akin to classic 60s muscle car hue than modern BMW fodder, this Z3s unique urethane has been meticulously pampered and protected by three owners since it rolled out of BMWs Spartanburg, South Carolina assembly plant. Today, with a clean CarFax that displays nothing more than a dogged dedication to excellent maintenance, this awesome M roadster is one of the nicest low mileage sports cars on the planet!

While the base Z3 roadster was more exciting than most BMW offerings of the time, it was still rather conservatively designed to appeal to a wide range of buyers. So BMW knew that a more dramatic appearance would be needed when they dusted off their legendary M badge; and according, the M Roadster you see here is equipped with a host of visual upgrades that, while significant, flow extremely well with its already impressive design theme. At the front of the car, a deeper front valence swaps standard Z3 fog lights for wider air intakes which help cool the cars big brakes. Above those intakes, traditional chrome BMW ‘kidney grilles’ hang between a pristine BMW propeller emblem and M specific free form, chrome trimmed halogen headlights. Behind those headlights, a creased hood flows toward pristine factory glass which is flanked by M specific power side mirrors and capped by either an optional body-matched hardtop or a black fabric soft top that folds into an M specific boot. Below those tops, sculpted M specific rocker sills complement M specific side gills; and wider rear fenders combine with offset rear wheels to give the car and aggressive, planted look. And at the back of the car, factory fresh tail lights frame a second BMW propeller emblem and a third chrome M badge above a re-styled rear bumper which incorporates pristine stainless exhaust tips into an M specific rear air diffuser.

Fortunately for red-blooded car guys everywhere, one pull of this roadsters hood latch is all it takes to throw the ‘all business’ subtlety of this car’s sleek exterior components right out the driver’s window. Perfectly wedged between the Dakar Yellow fenders is BMWs 3.2 liter S52 inline six cylinder engine which utilizes a cast iron block, a free flowing intake, a ported and polished aluminum cylinder head, heavy duty valve springs, finely balanced camshafts and reduced mass hardware to crank out 240 horsepower and 259 lb./ft. of torque. But wait, there’s more: at the top of that motor, you’ll find a Dinan Stage II supercharger kit which adds a cool 100 horsepower and an impressive 48 lb./ft. of torque to dial this smooth BMW six cylinders thrill factor from scary, right up to insane! Designed as a high-revving engine which utilizes a wide power band to create big horsepower with smooth driving characteristics, the S52 3.2 is widely regarded as one of the best BMW powertrains ever created. It features a host of race proven technology which seamlessly complements traditional BMW silk and smoothness to create a well-mannered roadster with excellent track capability. And based on appearance, the engine compartment in this M Roadster has been meticulously maintained with everything from the “BMW MPower” branded engine cover to the fresh hoses and spotless battery terminals showing no signs of heat damage or any weathering at all.

Naturally, a powerhouse like this car’s hot S52 needs a whole lot of top notch hardware to back it up. And accordingly, all M Roadsters were equipped with durable ZF Type C manual transmissions which feel good and perform great. That slick-shifting 5-speed sends power from a Dinan Stage II clutch to a standard limited slip differential which combines hardy 3.23 gears with M specific suspension geometry to create confident launches and quick acceleration. And the car’s excellent weight distribution combines with a Nurburgring worthy Macpherson strut front and semi trailing arm rear chassis, factory traction control, Dinan Stage III modifications, an M specific a wider track, an M specific ride height, and M specific springs and shocks to turn this already serious performer into a curve carving track monster. Stops are supplied by 12.4 inch front and 12.3 inch rear ventilated discs that are clamped by large black calipers via a standard BMW anti-lock brake system. Exhaust is handled by an aggressive sounding Dinan free flowing system which optimizes the superchargers power numbers. And the final piece of the performance upgrade package is a set of positively gorgeous 17 inch M branded RoadStar alloy wheels which wear 225/45 front and 245/40 rear Michelin Pilot Sport performance radials.

Inside this slick BMW, it’s all about a symbiotic relationship between cutting edge European performance and traditional ‘old world’ luxury. At the center of the car, pleated leather buckets, which show hardly any wear at all, perfectly complement great looking stitched leather covers which wrap tightly around the cars console and sculpted armrests. Inside that console, chrome trimmed VDO gauges allow you to keep an extra close watch on the cars vitals, and an aftermarket Alpine cassette player communicates with a trunk mounted Alpine CD changer to provide the soundtrack for your weekend escape. Between the seats, a slick “M” branded shifter sits below a large, rear mounted Harmon Kardon speaker that hides under a factory equipped wind screen. And behind the seats, leather wrapped roll over bars convey a since of style and comfort that isn’t found in most drop tops. At the bottom of the cockpit, like-new black carpet is protected by color-keyed M branded floor mats and chrome M specific sill plates. And at the back of the cockpit, a fresh and exceptionally roomy trunk is big enough to accommodate luggage for two. In front of the driver, an M specific three spoke steering wheel spins around M specific chrome rimmed and red needled gauges. And throughout the interior, you’ll find the usual assortment of luxury appointments and convenience features including cruise control, power seats, power accessories, an electrochromatic rearview mirror and both front and side airbags.

The sale of this low mileage BMW includes two original window stickers, the cars original dealer paperwork, the cars original owner’s manual and warranty booklets, receipts and paperwork for the Dinan components, a chrome Dinan emblem, receipts and manuals for the Alpine sound system, random service receipts, and a clean CarFax.
Highly civilized and extremely potent, this BMW M Roadster is a no-compromises exercise in high-end German performance. Still luxurious where it matters, with serious performance upgrades underneath, it will surprise almost any exotic car on the road without degrading ride quality or driver comfort. Reliable, streetable and poised to become a future classic, this awesome yellow BMW truly is the ultimate driving machine.

Shelby Superformance Cobra
World Class Cobra
Redux Supercharged
408/555 HP 5 Speed

Description:
Engine : 408 V8
Body Style: Roadster
Miles :1142
Stock #132689
Interior Color: Black
Exterior Color : Pepper Gray
Certified Price:  $139,900

What happened when an exclusive publication wanted to use a classic American icon to make waves at America’s premier aftermarket automotive event? This spectacular Superformance MKIII re-creation Cobra debuted at the 2008 SEMA show and propelled Makes & Models magazine to a whole new level! As one of the finest Cobras ever built, this 560 horsepower supercharged 427 replica is a fully sorted and expertly detailed show car that wears a licensed Shelby body and features autographs from both Carroll Shelby himself and legendary engine builder Jack Roush.

When you take a car to SEMA, you’re displaying in front of hundreds of the most skilled and influential car guys in the world. Every part of the car has to be flawless and EVERYTHING about the cars build has to be absolutely perfect. This ’65 Cobra began with exceptionally solid fiberglass that doesn’t show any signs of waves or ripples. On top of that fiberglass, an even and smooth gel coat provides an excellent canvas for the cars wet-look Pepper Gray paint and a killer set of red and silver racing stripes. Once that spectacular paint was buffed to a brilliant shine, proper finish work ensured that this laser-straight re-creation looks every bit as good as the old school aluminum 427 Cobra it replicates.

At the front of the car, like-new chrome trimmed headlights sit above correct Lucas style chrome trimmed parking lights and chrome front bumperettes. At the sides of those bumperettes, mesh filled vertical grilles border a massive radiator opening that houses two polished electric fans which in addition to providing increased cooling, give the car a more intimidating presence. Behind that radiator, the cars smooth fiberglass hood features locking hood latches and a riveted hood scoop that sits parallel to a Jack Roush autograph on the passenger’s side front fender. On top of the cars slick fuselage, a single chrome roll bar complements a traditional polished fuel filler and a new glass windshield that is complete with side visors stainless wipers and a great looking stainless frame. At the sides of the car, ceramic coated side pipes sit below brushed aluminum racing mirrors, finned aluminum air extractors and large “65” decals that look fitting and appropriate. At the back of the car, chrome trimmed tail lights sit on either side of a chrome tag bracket above two more matching chrome bumperettes. Keeping this Cobra glued to the race track is a custom a set of 18 inch American Racing Shelby Pin wheels that wear 275/35 front and massive 335/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport radials.

But enough about the trim, let’s get to the REALLY amazing part of this Cobra. The cars fresh 351 Windsor V8 has been bored and stroked to 408 cubic inches, features an 8.5 to 1 compression ratio and puts out a dragon slaying 560 horsepower and 575 lb./ft. of torque! The top end of the motor is beefed up by a Paxton Novi 1200 supercharger with seven pounds of boost, an Aeromotive high performance electronic fuel pump with dual filters and a boost adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. Spark is provided by an MSD 6AL ignition system, an MSD points distributor and MSD Super Conductor wires, and slick ceramic coated headers make quick work of the spent gases. Cooling isn’t an issue with the cars fan cooled aluminum radiator and polished water pump keeping everything in check, and the detailed build even included grade-A ancillary components like a power brake booster and engine oil cooler. This Cobras entire custom fabricated aluminum engine bay is held together with aircraft style aluminum rivets and features complete satin nickol AN fittings and stainless steel braided hoses. Even the mundane details were well planned and expertly executed with polished aluminum valve covers carrying a K&N crankcase breather, fresh belts spinning billet aluminum pulleys and a chrome radiator overflow tank sitting just ahead of the engine.

The best things about Cobra replicas are: 1) they’re built specifically for doing a great job at going very fast and 2) they’ve been perfected to the point that your face will hurt from smiling when you take one out on the track. Bolted into this car’s correct all tubular steel frame is a modern TKO600 5-speed performance transmission that is equipped with a McCleod scatter shield and a Centerforce clutch and pressure plate. That transmission feeds a tough Dana 45 limited slip rear end that does an excellent job of transferring the cars massive power to the ground with very little drama. At the front of the chassis, modern tubular upper and lower control arms are equipped with a heavy duty sway bar and coil overs that house performance Bilstein shocks. Out back, four more modern tubular control arms are equipped with a second heavy duty sway bar and two more coil overs with performance Bilstein shocks. Stops come courtesy of a four wheel Wilwood brake system that sends fluid from a hydraulic clutch master cylinder via braided hoses to red Superlite big bore four piston calipers which clamp 13 inch slotted front Wilwood GT rotors and 12 inch slotted rear rotors. Aesthetically, the bottom of this car is as clean and show worthy as its top side, and when the excellent drivetrain is combined with the track ready sport tuned suspension, the result is an insanely fun driving experience!

Jump inside the car and you’ll find nice custom embroidered leather seats that feature Cobra four point racing harnesses with cam-lock releases. The cars painted dash is covered in tight black leather and houses an autographed Carroll Shelby glove box beside correct Smiths black faced gauges which include a traditional 8,000 RPM no redline tachometer. Below the seats, new carpet is protected by rugged Superformance floor mats, and at the sides of the seats, the cars fiberglass doors have been covered in matching black leather. In front of the driver, a 15 inch leather wrapped steering wheel features satin aluminum spokes and a correct Superformance horn button, and beside the driver a chrome shifter and chrome hand brake sit directly in front of a chrome fire extinguisher. Behind the cockpit, the cars fairly sizable trunk has enough room for a couple of light suitcases or a day’s worth of gear for the golf course.

Included with this sale is a poster that features professional photographs of the car, a list of its build components and a short narrative about why it was created.
Carefully assembled, flawless in condition and equipped with the hardware to deliver the ride of your life, this Cobra is sure to satisfy anyone who has a pulse. Why waste your valuable time waiting for a car to be built when we have a top quality Shelby licensed Superformance SEMA show car sitting in our RK Motors Charlotte showroom? Don’t miss this opportunity to own a spectacular turn-key car that’s just as nice as an original Cobra, and probably more fun to drive, at a fraction of the price.

Ferrari 308 GTSI

Mile 308 GTSi
Quattrovalve

Description:
Engine : 3.0 V6
Body Style: Spyder
Miles:21662
Stock #131412
Interior Color: Tan
Exterior Color : Red
Certified Price: $45,900

Rosso Corsa over natural leather, Spyder targa roof. Does a car need more introduction than that? You know immediately we’re talking about a Ferrari, and in this case a final year 308 GTSi quattrovalvole. Resplendent in its fresh coat of glowing red paint, recently serviced, showing only 21,600 actual miles and running beautifully this prancing horse is ready for years of enjoyment!

Maintenance first – the clutch, pressure plate, transmission seals, spark plugs, timing belts and engine belts were replaced 4000 miles ago. Anyone who knows the first thing about these cars knows to check for these items! The original belts are still in the trunk, as well.

Sight down the straight and very, very red body to find no waves, dents or other blemishes. We bought the car in excellent shape but the paint had seen better days – the car is twenty four years old, after all, and Ferrari’s paint doesn’t hold up as well as you’d like. As it was in such excellent shape a full teardown wasn’t advised, so our team smoothed out the couple parking lot dings and random minor scratches, cut into the faded paint and laid down the fresh red. The result is much better than a factory job that looks like it’s lit from beneath! Complimenting the new finish are all four original wheels refinished by Motomotion. Again, nothing major was wrong but a couple of minor curb marks and years worth of fading didn’t do the paint justice – we had to refinish them. Nearly new Kumho Ecsta 712 tires in the correct 205/55 front and 225/50/ZR16 rear sizes ride on those beautifully restored wheels. Lenses in the front bumper, the fenders and the tail panel are all original and in excellent shape. Both bumpers are excellent with zero damage and in their original bright black condition. The glass is all original, clean and clear. The black Spyder top is in excellent shape without warpage or tearing.

Take a quick glance underneath and note the clean chassis with no damage and clean panels. The steering is tight and the brakes are spot on. Pop the front hatch to find 100% original components down the original, never used Pirelli Cintruato P7 on the original spare. Clean and without fault – it’s what you’re looking for.

Open the rear hatch and find the trunk zip-close cover intact over the clean luggage compartment. The original jack is in here in its original pouch, as well. Forward of the compartment is the heart of the beast – the three litre, fuel injected four cam V8 producing 235 horsepower at a stratospheric 7000rpm. The Quattrovalvole models are instantly recognizable thanks to their red intake manifolds as well as their newfound power. You’re looking at (other than maintenance) an untouched, unmolested engine bay that’s correct and as Maranello intended. You don’t want to buy a car that’s rigged up or had its expensive systems bypassed!

Set down low in the close quarter interior and take in this driver’s special. Large, easy to read gauges are front and center, there’s a Momo wheel in your hands and a tall gated shifter to your right. Sure, the rest of the switchgear looks like it was placed in a box, dumped into the interior and installed where it landed, but that’s one of the quirks of owning a sports car! The dash pad is excellent with no shrinkage or warping, the passenger seat is perfect and the driver seat shows only normal wear for a 308. The door panels and carpeting are in great shape and are all original. The car’s one deviation from stock is a Kenwood CD player in the dash replacing the manual tuning cassette that came in the car from new. The aforementioned switches and controls all have a high quality feel to them as you’d expect to find in a hand built car. Even the latches for the front and rear compartments, tucked away in the driver’s door jamb, are resplendent in chrome with the company logo on them – those are the special touches in hidden places which separate the best from the rest.

Pull a Carfax and find out the car was originally kept in Europe as new, finding its way to California a few years later. The full gamut of federalization procedures took place, satisfying the super strict smog nazis in the Golden State. The car even passed Ohio’s IM240-type test in June of this year – a good tune up does wonders for these cars! While all structural changes such as the bumpers and door beams are no US spec, the motor retains its elevated compression and higher lift cams – this car’s a runner!
There’s a reason the cavallino rampante commands such strong feelings from its owners and admirers – everyone from the kid bagging groceries to the Sultan of Brunei knows one when he sees one. Fantastic to drive, fascinating to sit and stare at, fabulous to own and downright affordable, this may be the perfect enthusiasts’ car!

Jaguar E-Type

1968
Jaguar E-Type
1968 Jaguar Restored E Type Series 1.5 2+2

Description:

Engine : 4.2 Liter DOHC Inline 6
Body Style: Coupe
Miles :50251
Stock #132007
Interior Color: Saddle
Exterior Color : Black
Certified Price:  $29,900

I don’t think I’ll get many arguments when I say that the Jaguar E-Type has to be one of the most beautiful cars ever conceived by the mind of man. The design is fifty years old now, and still looks timeless and elegant go ahead and compare it to, say, a 1959 Cadillac and see which one has aged more gracefully. Along the way, the E-Type evolved slightly, getting more reliable, more comfortable, and, Heaven help me, even more practical. Witness this gorgeous black 1968 4.2 2+2: a powerful, reliable engine, an automatic transmission, and a spacious cockpit with two additional seats in back for occasional use or a positively huge cargo bay. Oh, yeah, it has also been restored and is one heck of a solid running, driving Jag that you can probably use every day.

The 2+2 version of the coupe was added in 1966. The body is 9 in (229 mm) longer and the roof angles are different with a more vertical windscreen. There was a transitional series of cars built in 1967-68, unofficially called “Series 1½”, which are externally similar to Series 1 cars. Due to American pressure the new features were open headlights, a collapsible steering column, and safety dashboard “rocker” switches for US models. Some Series 1½ cars, such as the one shown here, also have twin cooling fans and adjustable seat backs.

I think maybe only British Racing Green can look better than black on an Ectypes lean sheet metal, but only if you’re a real Anglophile. The bodywork on this car was expertly done when the car was restored some years ago, and does show some signs of use today, but what I’m really seeing is that someone really cared about this car and took incredible care of it. You know that if you build a black car, you need to make it straight, and that’s especially difficult on a car full of complex curves like this Jag. The great condition suggests first that the car was very straight to begin with and second, that the workmanship was very good. As I said, I’m seeing some signs of age on the restoration, and of course the car has been driven a little bit, but the fact that it still looks this good is testament to quality work and excellent care.

Chrome and other trim are good, and look correct for the age of the restoration. It was all done to a very high standard several years ago, like the paint, and has been very well maintained ever since. The Series 1.5 cars lost the glass covers over the headlights, but everything else remained the same, so the net result is a better functioning set of headlights that still look spectacular, especially with their chrome buckets and surrounds that lead into the chrome strips that run the length of the front fender. The grille is in excellent condition, and out back, the bumpers fit flush to the body. Lenses are good all-around except for a small crack in the passenger’s side front parking light, but most folks would never notice it. The windshield is unmarked, and dig the triple windshield wipers for wiping that tall expanse of glass! Too cool to watch.

Under that long bonnet (that’s hood to us Americans), this E-Type carries a 4.2 liter inline six. The first reflection of the American influence was the introduction of a bigger engine in 1964. Based on the familiar XK engine, it had re-spaced cylinder bores that allowed it to be expanded from 3,781 cc (231 cu. in.) to 4,235 cc (258 cu. in.). The 4.2 had about 10% more torque than before, making it better suited for lugging in American-style traffic and it is an excellent power plant in front of the 3-speed automatic transmission. Rebuilt several years ago when the car was restored, it runs extremely well today. It shows none of the fussiness that you might expect a Jaguar with multiple carburetors to exhibit, and I would wager that this car is daily-driver reliable. The two Stromberg carburetors aren’t tricky or complicated, and do their job without drawing any attention to themselves, and look good doing it. You’ll notice that a Crane aftermarket ignition system has been added for reliability and performance, but everything else is as the factory intended. Clearly the car has been driven and enjoyed, but that also means that it is fully sorted and turn-key ready, too. All the polished aluminum bits, from the cam covers to the intake manifold, have a lovely patina that I think looks so much better than a mirror polished finish. Also notice the dual cooling fans up front, which were designed to cure the overheating issues that some early cars suffered when subjected to American city-style traffic conditions (the aftermarket and any restorer worth his salt have pretty much cured all the E’s overheating issues today). 4.2s benefit from a proper alternator, which ensures reliable electricity no “Lucas, Prince of Darkness” jokes need apply to this black cat.

Jaguar fans will be asking about the front subframes on this car, and I can assure them that they have been restored and are structurally sound in every way. You’ll also notice correct Koni shocks at all four corners, giving this E-Type a distinctly sporting feel on the road. The automatic transmission, a Borg Warner 3-speed unit, works properly and is surprisingly quick to shift and it isn’t nearly the handicap that most people imagine, and I think I prefer it to some of the downright horrible manual transmissions offered in certain E-Types. The rear suspension has been recently disassembled and detailed, and shows extremely well with dual Konis and coil-overs on each side. Floors are solid, with the original undercoating still intact and undisturbed. The exhaust seems to be a mixture of original and replacement parts, and the system sounds great. There are disc brakes all around, including the famous inboard-mounted rear discs as part of the fully independent rear end. Wheels are, of course, gorgeous chrome wire wheels with knock-off centers wearing 205/70/15 Pirelli P4000 radials.

The interior is a beautiful oasis of tan leather done as only the British can do it. Originally red, the restorer chose tan leather when it was time to restore the car, and the black-on-tan combination is stunning. The seats sport fresh leather covers over the original frames, and the pattern is correct. The carpets are also new, and the Series 1.5 cars switched from aluminum trim inside to more leather and vinyl for a softer, more comfortable feel. The headliner, door panels, and cargo bay feature more new materials in tan, although plastic and vinyl items like the door surrounds have been painted to match and in places reveal the original red color. The dash is very presentable, with bright clear gauges and an excellent pad with no indication of UV damage. The steering wheel is all-original with no cracks or damage, and the spokes and horn button look exactly appropriate in the car. The trunk compartment shows well and features a spare chrome knock-off wheel along with a correct jack and wrench.

And you’re in luck here: this Jag has a ton of paperwork, too. Restoration receipts? We have them, including one for more than $21,000 for the paint and bodywork. There are invoices for the mechanical restoration, as well. There are also several envelopes full of restoration photo showing many of the components before, during, and after the restoration. And at the AACA Ohio Region Stan Hywet Meet, this car scored 88 out of 100 points in judged competition. Finally, a new car cover in an unopened box is included with the sale.
The problem with E-Type Jaguars is that they’re either question marks with a ton of hidden issues, or they are near-6-figure show queens. Getting a clean, drivable, reliable car with no issues is tougher than it sounds. Well, here’s a gorgeous black one that is ready to drive and enjoy. These are very contemporary-feeling cars on the road, they’re reliable and easily keep up with modern traffic and with the 2+2 body style and they’re surprisingly practical, too. You’ll be treated like an A-list celebrity whenever you pull up to the valet in one of these, and anywhere you go, every eye will be on you. They are accepted at virtually any car show you’ll care to attend, and there’s nobody in the world who doesn’t know what it is there isn’t a car this recognizable this side of a 1957 Chevy. Think about it if you’re looking for a great fair-weather driver, you could have this beautiful vintage Jag or a Mazda Miata. Yeah, I know which one I’d rather drive.
